| About Hardy's Tex Mex |
Established in 1994, Hardy's Tex Mex restaurant was formed with the idea of bringing fun and entertainement to eating!
The establishment which was once a classic car show room, was converted to create the split level restaurant and bar that is Hardy's today. Downstairs at Hardy's (40 people) provides a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with an excellent cocktail bar! Or alternatively, upstairs at Hardy's (60 people) is designed as a party room where its party time every night of the week! Singing along to some famous old school tracks on the great sound system, making the most of our late night licence by eating and drinking till early hours of the morning and dancing the night away on the dance floor under our disco lights are not unfamiliar sights (or sounds) here!
Hardy's is an independant restaurant, owned by American, Ricky Hartong who attended Hotel School in Switzerland and has trained and worked in some of the best restaurants in Los Angeles, Aspen, Colorado and Fair Banks Alaska. Hardy's motto is 'Eating is Fun' and we have sure come up with some novel ways of helping our guests get into the swing of things, with our famous hat collection that lines the walls, menus that can be found inside an array of LP covers and beer by the bucket for those not wanting to go thirsty! Additionally we have an enormous selection of home-cooked food on the menu at Hardy's where staff make their own salad dressings, guacamole, corn bread, Boston beans and burritos. Hardy's prides itself on its ability to provide an enjoyable dining environment thats loud, live, lots of fun and supported by a great team of staff.
Tex Mex: The historyThe Mexican wars ended in 1846. Prior to this date the disputes regarding the boundary between Texas & Mexico lasted many years. The eating habits in Mexico were mainly corn flour, beans, rice & chicken. In Texas the main diet was beef. Owing to the continuous movement of the border, the two eating habits became one, hence the name Tex-Mex. The border finally became the Rio Grande. |
